Leadership alignment tends to hold reasonably well when an organisation is small. Everyone is in the same room often enough that gaps in understanding get corrected informally. As the organisation grows and the leadership team expands, that informal correction mechanism stops working, and misalignment accumulates quietly until something forces it into the open.
Change readiness is often treated as a binary: either the organisation is ready or it is not. In practice it is more granular than that. An organisation can be highly ready on some dimensions and genuinely unprepared on others, and knowing which is which before an initiative launches makes a significant difference to how the programme is designed and resourced.
Most organisations have a strategy document. Many of them run to twenty or thirty pages. The length is not the problem; the problem is that a document that long can contain contradictions, hedge its bets, and avoid the hard choices that a real strategy requires.
